Off to Boston for a group blogger tour today and back Saturday. The agenda has been shrouded in secrecy though I believe EMC is on the list – with no NDA. Looking forward to that.
Next week off to Las Vegas for the National Association of Broadcasters convention. Sorry to miss SNW for the first time in years.
And the week after that I’ll be going to Toronto for a couple of days.
The StorageMojo take
I hope to post about some of the stuff I learn in Boston. And NAB is always good for new technology – and I’ll be meeting with a number of vendors to see their latest kit.
It is a good thing I always enjoy returning to Sedona. I’ll be doing a lot of it.
Courteous comments welcome, of course. Any issues you’d like me to pursue with EMC or at NAB?
EMC:
– ILM strategy is dead or alive?
– With all data recovery acquisitions, what will be integrated to another one and what is the strategy behind that.
– Native FCoE…soon or 2011 like most storage vendors
NAB:
– Look at Media Asset Management software (MAM) and Video Archive. This is where the future is all about in this area. Mainly because they need to track several thousand movies, millions of clips and audio tracks. I’ve deal with Avid, Apple, Front Porch Digital and Masstech and few others are in this segment.
You will find as of today their is no “real” standard for data exchange in this industry. Each vendors has it own and prevent data migration without loosing something. Extremely painful for most TV stations and post productions studios.
