The top analysts at StorageMojo packing up their saddlebags for the long ride to the International Cloud Expo in Santa Clara, California this week.

I’ll be moderating a panel discussion Tuesday at 210pm on Object Storage for Big Data Panel: Revolutionary Storage for Big Data. With participation from Intel, Aspera, Amplidata, Quantum and Panzura, the range of knowledge and opinion gives a rich 360° view of the issues and opportunities with object storage in big data apps.

MapReduce was built on GFS’s object storage, so object storage for big data may not be all that revolutionary, but it is an idea whose time has come. All the major players have object storage products, but the speed of the technology improvement has left several of them with sub-optimal architectures.

The StorageMojo take
I’ll have a post on big object storage based on what I’ve learned in these panel discussions. Stay tuned.

Courteous comments welcome, of course. Always like to meet StorageMojo readers, so if you’re there feel free to come up and say howdy.
